A Fist Full of Dollars... and a Tank Full of History.
Our national chapter; Military Vehicle Preservation Association (MVPA) has been hosting a series of historic, multi-state convoys for several years. One of our members, Albert has been on many of them. The one this year covers North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, following the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery’s 1805 westward exploration route. It will be held Mid-July to Mid-August in 2026. The Convoy travels through the Northern Plains following the Missouri River to its source at the Continental Divide. We’ll cross both the Continental Divide and Bitterroot Mountains to ultimately follow the Clearwater, Snake and Columbia Rivers to the Pacific Ocean. The route is often very remote still to this day with exceedingly beautiful panoramas at every turn. This Convoy will launch from Bismark, ND and conclude at Historic Fort Stevens, OR. The Arizona Military Vehicle Collectors Club (AMVCC) recognizes the cost of fuel has risen to new levels this year and to combat that we have offered a $1000 in support. Sometimes preserving history isn't just about restoring a vehicle. Sometimes it's about helping keep them moving. Our members raised the money to send long time member Albert eastbound on the 2026 MVPA Lewis & Clark Historic Convoy with a fist full of dollars (and a few other surprises) to help convoy participants offset fuel costs along the route. Every dollar collected goes right back into what matters most, keeping more than 50 historic military vehicles rolling over 2,100 miles while bringing living history to communities across America. The Lewis & Clark Convoy isn't just a road trip. It's veterans, families, collectors, restorers, and volunteers sharing history where it happened. Every stop creates opportunities for people to experience these remarkable vehicles up close and hear the stories they carry.
If you'd like to help keep history on the move, you can contribute directly to the official MVPA Convoy fuel fund here:
